he Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport was established in 1975 and offers weekend productions of revues and revivals. It’s a non-profit organization, which treats its audiences to fully produced, award-winning musical performances as well as stage events, from The Amazing Kreskin to Defending the Caveman this spring. As its name suggests, the theater offers cabaret seating, with audience members welcome to bring their own food and drink to shows. Doors generally open an hour before performances. Jay and the Americans will be at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre on June 2, with three original band members plus the addition of “Jay” Reincke. Crystal Gayle is slotted for June 23, Bruce in the USA: The Bruce Sprinsteen Experience Sept. 14-16 and An Evening of Neil Diamond Oct. 20-21. The Children’s Theatre provides original musicals for the younger set (often based on familiar tales), fall through spring weekends.
The Downtown Cabaret Theatre is at 263 Golden Hill Street in Bridgeport. Take Exit 27A (Routes 8 & 25 to Trumbull/ Waterbury) from I-95 Eastbound; move immediately to the right and take Exit 2, Golden Hill/Main Street.
